3M™ Wind Protection Tapes have excellent UV resistance and can help protect wind turbine blade surfaces from costly repairs and performance degrading damage caused by light impact and erosion from rain, sleet, sand, dirt or other contaminants.
- Made of a tough, abrasion- and puncture-resistant polyurethane elastomer
- Protects the leading edge of wind turbine blades from erosion damage
- Available in clear or light gray color for OEM or field applications
Wind turbine blades, which rotate at speeds up to 200 MPH (320 km/h), are constantly exposed to a range of environmental conditions - including rain, sand, hail and salt spray - that can cause significant damage that is both expensive to repair and reduces the aerodynamic and energy-generating efficiency of the blades. The uniform design of 3M's windbreak tape allows for faster and more consistent LEP installation in both OEM and field applications. The durable material provides long-lasting protection that helps reduce rotor blade maintenance costs and keep wind turbines running at peak performance.
- Same durable WPT 2. 0 blade protection.
- Tested 50 hrs RET at 140m/s no damage observed 1
- o 1500% elongation at break
- o 31 MPa tensile strength
- o 9.1 N/cm peel strength (epoxy primer).
- Improved UV and degradation resistance
- o Additive package reformulated for improved resistance to environmental degradation vs. 3M™ WPT 1.0 & 2.0 2
- Popular roll sizes available
- o33m length: 102mm, 152mm, 254mm, & 305mm widths
- o22m length: 305mm width
- Application procedure is virtually unchanged WPT 2.1 applies the same as WPT 2.0.
3M recommends the use of W2600 Edge Sealer and Adhesion Promoter for improved resistance to delamination.
